Register as a supplier on Cal eProcure

Cal eProcure is the State of California’s portal for supplier profiles and solicitations. Registration, small business certification, and a city or county vendor account are three different steps.

Open Cal eProcure ↗

Steps

  1. Confirm the legal name and address you will use on every form.
  2. Register the supplier profile on Cal eProcure.
  3. If you want small business or microbusiness status, apply through the state’s certification process with the documents that application lists.
  4. Set commodity codes narrowly enough that the notices you receive are work you can bid.
  5. Check the profile when your address, contacts, or offerings change.

What to gather before you start

  • Legal name and any DBA, matching the formation papers
  • Physical address and mailing address
  • Federal tax identifier
  • Commodity codes that match work you can actually perform
  • Contacts who will see bid notices, on inboxes somebody watches
  • Ownership details, if you plan to apply for small business or microbusiness status

What this portal is

State departments use Cal eProcure to publish solicitations. Businesses use it to hold a supplier profile, see opportunities, and give the state a record it can pay against. Procurement for the state sits with the Department of General Services (DGS).

SupplierStart is not DGS, and this page is not the state’s site. Screens and required fields change. Use the official portal as the source of truth when you register.

Registration is not certification

A Cal eProcure supplier profile lets the state find you and pay you. Small business certification and microbusiness certification are separate statuses. A certified small business may be eligible for the state’s small business bid preference, often described as 5 percent of the net bid price.

The percentage, the dollar caps, and who qualifies are set by the state and can change. Read the current rule on the DGS site before you price a bid around a preference.

Who this page is for

Firms that want to sell goods or services to California state agencies. Selling to a city or a county is a different registration, even when that local agency also buys from small businesses. A Cal eProcure account does not create a profile on a city’s portal.

Where a kit or a review fits

The California kit is a playbook and document tracker for the Cal eProcure profile and the small business or microbusiness application. The Application Readiness Review is a one-time gap review of a draft you have already put together, marked red, yellow, and green.

Neither product files the application. You submit from your own account. Filing with California DGS is free. If a private certifier is also on your list, that organization charges its own fees.
